FIFA WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 2010: SPAIN. VIVA ESPAÑIA!!

All I can say is Congratulations SPAIN !! After a brutal yet less entertaining final the spanish squad defeated the Netherlands with 1-0 scored by ANDRES INIESTA in the 116th minute on over-time.
The route to the final was however led by DAVID VILLA who scored 5 goals out of Spain's 8. An impressive achievement, after being defeated by SWITZERLAND in their first group game, they gathered and prowled their way through the rest of the tournament. The final was the only match the Netherlands lost, going undefeated through the entire tournament led by WESLEY SNEIJDER and ARJEN ROBBEN.
With fourteen yellow cards in the final, one red card to John Heitinga, he broke the previous record of 6 for most cards in a World Cup final, set in 1986. 9 of these Final yellow cards came in the first 90 minutes.

Best player of the Tournament was awarded uruguyan forward Diego Forlán who singlehandly led his team to the semifinals but were disputed in the ladder and in the Bronze-final. However his splendid play did not went unnoticed with 5 highly qualified goals.

This was the first time ever that two different teams from the same continent have won successive World Cups (Italy won the 2006 tournament). It was also the first time that a European team has won a tournament held outside Europe.

The 2010 World Cup also marked the first new winner, and the first new finalist, since France in 1998
